Debbie Griffiths Dog Walker

Hiya. I’m Debbie Griffiths, founder of DG Walkies. 

I’ve been a dog lover since I was a little girl – when I was much smaller than Sam, our first Boxer. Since then, a mix of pedigrees and rescues called Max, Scamp, Tana, Brogan, Jessie, Bruza, Jack, Milo, Baxter and now Arlo have all been part of the family. 

I’ve had a somewhat varied career – teacher of English in Germany, France and Japan. Decades working for big business in corporate and sustainability communications, both as an employee and founder of a small agency. 

After an overseas sabbatical volunteering with endangered species, I wanted to swap the corporate world for a hybrid career combining my passions for the environment, animals, education, charity and words. It’s not been as easy as I expected.

Following a failed Slimming World franchise (launched just 8 weeks before 2020 lockdown!) and a stint working at National Trust Hidcote, I decided to fulfil a long-held dream of doing dog walking as a business.  

I’d been ‘borrowing’ doggies for years and looking after dogs belonging to friends and family; I’d done a Dog First Aid course and studied for a dog walking business diploma. Add on Petplan insurance and a DBS check and I was good to go late 2023. 

I chose to brand DG Walkies with the colour purple in memory of our beloved Lavender – a Collie cross rescued via the Dogs Trust in Evesham. It took years of love, patience and training to rehabilitate her into the sweetest dog who adored her walkies. 

I’m building up a nice mix of regular and ad hoc clients in my local area. I’m absolutely loving it and can’t wait to meet you and your pooch!
